Colleges warn of cash shortfall
England's colleges say they are being given less than a third of the extra funding they needed to meet government targets. The Association of Colleges had asked the government for £1.9bn more for 2005-08.It says the comprehensive spending review allocation is "vague" but appears to fall far short. The likelihood was that provision for 14 to 16 year olds, adult courses and staff pay would be hit, it said.
